Was going to use a 4ton and 1ton come along with.
Depending on how much lean, it is possible. The usual method before heavy machinery was to use wedges. You notch the tree, then drive a wedge in there trying to force it in the opposite direction and prevent it from falling that direction. I am no expert at it, so try researching how to use a wedge when felling a tree. Jun 01, Cut in with the back cut leaving a large amount of hinge (wood) on the opposite side of the lean, 8 inches or so.

Get the amount of wood you want on the lean side and stop cutting. Put a wedge into the cut on the leaning side, pound the wedge tight. go to the opposite side of the lean and slowly cut the hinge wood bushnotch.clubted Reading Time: 9 mins. Bore straight in, leaving enough hinge wood for the size of the tree.
Walk the saw back, cutting approximately half the tree and leaving sufficient holding wood in back. Repeat the procedure on the opposite side. Use a release cut from the back side. If the tree is leaning in the opposite direction, you need to make the back cut in stages, driving wedges as you go to support the trunk to prevent the saw from binding. Once the back cut extends halfway through the trunk, drive the wedges deeper with a sledgehammer to force the tree in the fall direction.
Nov 30, The pathway of escape should be at a 45 degree angle (see photo below) in either opposite direction of the intended direction of the felling path and at least 20 feet from the base of the subject tree being felled (see photo below). Feb 10, Almost 90% of the time the tree will fall in the direction of the down ward slope of the hill.
But using a plumb bob will always show the true lean. Do not forget to take the weight of the branches and where they are located into consideration too. Backwoods Savage, Marshel54, Reddingnative and 9. May 03, Big problem of getting 12" trees to fall the opposite direction of the lean because there is little to no room for getting a wedge in behind the bar. Taking a smaller undercut to gain more room for the wedge may work.
Main thing is to get some ropes high in the tree to pull the tree in the falling direction. Jan 29, Feb 14, 27, Michigan.
Jan 27, # Using a bull rope to help direct a tree is very common, especially when felling a tree that is near a building or power line. It is not bad to tie off to a pickup, tractor or whatever. Doing it right, you first want to put tension on the rope.
